The session will be 100% virtual with kick off events happening  physically in London, Yaba (Lagos), Kano, Gombe, Ibadan, and Virtually.

  1. What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a collaborative event where participants work in teams to create innovative solutions, typically in the form of software, within a limited time frame. 


  1. Who can participate in the hackathon?

Our hackathon is open to individuals with diverse backgrounds, including students, professionals, and enthusiasts in fields like software development, design, data science, and business. Participants should have a passion for learning and be eager to collaborate on creating innovative solutions.

  1. How do I register for the hackathon?
You can register for the hackathon through our online registration portal. Please fill out the required information and submit the form on this page. You will receive a confirmation email upon successful registration.

  1. Is there a registration fee for the hackathon?

No, there is no nominal registration fee for the costs of organizing the event. 


 5. How are teams formed?

Teams can be formed prior to the event or during the team formation session at the beginning of the hackathon. Each team should have 2-5 members, and we encourage a mix of skills and expertise for optimal collaboration.


 6. Can I submit a project I have already been working on?

All projects must be started and completed during the hackathon. Pre-existing projects or code will not be accepted. However, you are welcome to use your previous experiences and ideas as inspiration for your hackathon project.


7. What are the judging criteria?

Projects will be judged based on their innovation, technical complexity, design, impact, and presentation. The exact criteria and weightage cuts across (3) key metrics and these are; selection of the first (5) top solution, upon public review done on our LinkedIn handle (Bincomdevcenter), an aggregate turnout will lead to the top (3) product solution and lastly, a group of top internal professionals will file in their results leading to the announcement of the winner.

8. What are the prizes for the winning teams?

Compensation for the hackathon winning team, alongside other available opportunities shared via email campaigns. The details of the selected team will be announced across all our social media channels.


9. Is there a code of conduct for the hackathon?

Yes, all participants must adhere to the hackathon's code of conduct, which emphasizes mutual respect, inclusivity, and collaboration. Violation of the code of conduct may result in disqualification and removal from the event.


10. How can I stay updated on the event?

Real time communication during the Hackathon will happen on Bincom Tech Network. Follow "Bincom Dev Center" on social media channels for the latest updates and announcements. You can also join our mailing list to receive important information and reminders directly to your inbox.


11. How many check-ins are available?

Participants are open to two check-in sessions on the same day. The first check-in starting by 11:00 Am (WAT) on October 21st (Saturday). On this note, participants must ensure that their teams have been formed and registered before 12:00 Pm (WAT) on October 21st. Furthermore, the second check-in is by 6pm (WAT), specifically for the product submission with a deadline by 7:00 Pm (WAT) on same day.
